Pepper Group relocates
Pepper Group, a marketing communications agency, is relocating its office from Northwest Highway to 220 N. Smith St., Suite 406, in downtown Palatine.

Quantum merges with North Star
North Star Foods, Inc., a protein processing company, and Bolingbrook-based Quantum Foods, LLC, have merged operations into a single food company, Quantum Foods. The new organization will offer a diverse line of custom-menu solutions for national and regional chains, including full-service and quick-service restaurants.

Downes internationally recognized
Arlington Heights-based Downes Swimming Pool Company, a residential swimming pool and spa builder, has received a gold award from the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals through its “International Awards of Excellence Competition 2009.” Downes was picked from more than 407 worldwide entries, and is the only winner located in Illinois.

Prairie Trail awarded
Joliet-based Prairie Trail Credit Union has been awarded first place in the Desjardins Youth Financial Education program, sponsored by the Illinois Credit Union League and the Credit Union National Association, for its financial education programs in area elementary schools and high schools.

Mizkan expands portfolio
Mizkan Americas, a Mount Prospect-based condiment manufacturer, has expanded its portfolio with the purchase of World Harbors Sauces & Marinades, with production facilities in Auburn, Maine.

Syclo positioned in Leaders Quadrant
Syclo, a Hoffman Estates-based platform technology and applications provider, has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Leaders Quadrant of its 2009 Magic Quadrant for Mobile Enterprise Application Platforms report, a research tool that provides a graphical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period.

Castino honored by Angie’s List
Northbrook-based Castino Painting and Home Services has received the 2009 Angie’s List Super Service Award for the fifth consecutive year. The award is reserved for companies who have achieved and maintained a superior service rating on Angie’s List—a provider of consumer rating on area service companies—throughout the past year.
