The Business Ledger redesign to be 'reader-friendly' in print, on line
The Business Ledger will have a new look in September.
And although the appearance of the newspaper will change somewhat—ranging from a somewhat smaller size page to a new nameplate topping page 1 to easier-to-read headlines and body text—its mission has not.
As “the business voice of suburban Chicago,” The Business Ledger, now in its 16th year, is without peer and remains committed to covering suburban business news, issues and trends and relating the success stories of its many companies, stores, businesses and organizations to its readership of business owners and executives throughout the northwest, west and southwest suburbs.
As an information provider, the newspaper and its companion online presences—the e-mail newsletter “Business Edge” and its Web site (www.thebusinessledger.com)—are likewise dedicated to providing news that is relevant and informative yet a “quick read” for busy executives.
So what should you look for in the “new” Business Ledger, both now and as continued evolution of both the print and online products continue this year and in 2009?
•a new nameplate (or banner, or flag) at the top of page 1. It’s a more modern look that retains “Business Ledger blue” as a quick identifying color and as a link to our past.
•a smaller size, by about 3” in depth, from the current issue. There will be no quarter-fold, enabling readers to see the whole front page (or any page) at a glance and determine what stories they want to read.
•four-color throughout, with all photos in color as well as charts and other “info-graphics” that will draw readers into stories and, it is hoped, offer more in-depth explanations.
•highlights of key inside stories on page 1 as well as an index of regular features to make it easier to find your favorites.
•easy-to-find labels with major inside stories so readers will immediately know what industry or profession an article focuses on.
•regular featured pages or columns by Business Ledger writers featuring news and information on the area’s key industries like health care, the environment, technology, banking and finance, commercial/office real estate, education, media, hospitality, advertising and marketing, chambers of commerce, and non-profits.
